Awards

The 25th Hong Kong Annual Film Awards.

✷ I'm so glad neither A Lau or A Kwok got best actor. Really.

✷ A Kwok's disappointment and then the fake gracious loser look was just priceless. Doesn't mean you won in one award show that you're guaranteed to win in another award show. Hah!

✷ Not that it wasn't well-deserved, but I can't help but think giving the best actress to Zhou Xun was a politically correct move intended to diffuse whatever favouritism/rivalry/bickering there was/will be between the local HK actresses.

✷ J Chou getting best newcomer. I wish the panel had the guts to give it to someone else. I guess they wanted to avoid being lynched by the fans.

✷ Can't believe Seven Swords got nominated in so many categories. What was even more shocking was that it was one of the finalists for best editing. So glad it didn't get a single thing. What an over-rated arty-farty piece of confusion.

✷ Happiness is seeing Theresa Mo win her first award in 30 years.

✷ It was heartbreaking watching scenes with Leslie and Anita from He's a Man, She's a Woman, while Chris Wong sang the movie's theme song.

✷ Karen Mok is so hot. I still can't believe she and S Fung are a straight couple.

✷ Sandra Ng's belly is huuuuge. Everytime she burst out in laughter, everyone was so afraid she would give birth right there and then.

✷ Dodo Cheng has definitely gone overboard with the plastic surgery.

✷ Anthony Wong in Brokeback gear. I mean if there was no Brokeback ever and he turned up in whatever he turned up in, I would have thought, wow so cool. But because there was Brokeback, it came across as a bit try hard. Still. He is Anthony Wong. He can pull off wearing anything.

✷ I thought Jacky Cheung was supposed to perform? Yay to him adding another best song trophy to his already overflowing cabinet of accolades.

✷ Shirley Kwan. Still as captivating. Voice still as high. Songs still as hard to sing along to. I want to watch her perform live one day.

✷ Does anyone know what's the latest with Chan Mun Yee, Liu Kai Chi's wife? It sounded tragic.

✷ Sammi's face. Whenever the camera focussed on her, all I could think of was, girl, you need more SKII.

And so, that's it for last year.

Next year, we should be seeing Isabella getting a lot of nominations in a lot of categories. My guess is, Best Score, Best Actor and Best Actress, to say the very least.

Secretly, I hope Chapman does get nominated next year and he wins it too.
